RIP my friends

Last week as I was sequestered away in with my computer I heard some rustling around in the living room where my dogs, Snookie and Eddie were. Never a good sign. I came out to inspect. A shredded up baggie is what I saw first. And then, as you can see in the first photo below, I found Benny's ashes. Benny was our 13 yr old Shepherd Husky mix who died Oct. 14, 2008. We have his ashes in a box, but had taken some out to leave at his favorite beach which we had not done yet. Snookie, apparently found the bag and made quick work out of spreading them around. It took my breath away. I couldn't believe it! Now, our Benny was the first one to enjoy a good laugh, so I don't imagine he would have held this against Snookie, nor not seen the humor of the situation. No doubt he would have been in there snuffling around as well. So, as I had to hoover him up, I thought about how lucky we were to have had so many laughs together for most of those 13 yrs. And also, how dogs just aren't that sentimental really, are they?

Really what Snookie did, is remind me of several friends of mine who have passed recently that I wanted to acknowledge. It was a privilege to have spent time with them and an honor that they let me into their lives even if, for some, it was just for a few brief hours. Here they are:

Sophie 1997-2010

Rafy 1997-2010

Sam 1996-2010

Prince William   1997-2010
